Misty Sharpe worked as a registered nurse for 14 years. She gained mental healthcare experience by counseling patients in the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System, completing internships on medication management and directive counseling, and working with clients of all ages in private psychiatric practice.

Misty joined Family Focus to provide holistic care in a collaborative, therapeutic atmosphere. She performs psychiatric evaluations, formulates diagnoses, manages medication and provides directive counseling. She functions as a patient advocate while educating parents and other family members on the signs and symptoms of disorders and side effects of medications. She also orders lab tests and assists with referrals to specialists when needed.

Misty enjoys spending time with her family and coaching youth basketball and softball. She believes mental healthcare can include medication, counseling, a good diet, physical exercise and rest.
